The key does appear to fit, at least.  It's certainly old <br>enough, but quite honestly you have little faith that<br>
it won't disintegrate into tiny little shiny pieces inside<br>
the lock. It is so old it smells bad, like very old metal <br>
smells.  You gingerly push it into the keyhole and turn.
